Sheep to Shawl
Description
If you're not afraid of being called a spinster, why not participate in this full-day workshop and learn the stages of processing wool - washing, carding, dyeing, spinning, and weaving or knitting. See how the ladies of 19th century New Brunswick produced their own clothing from the resources around them. During this workshop you will have the opportunity to use artifact and reproduction tools. If you're an animal lover, then enjoy a visit with the Cotswald sheep and compare their wool to that of other breeds on site. If your hands are dry, you can pet the sheep and take advantage of the lanolin. You are invited to sit down in the historic home and enjoy lunch made over the open fire with the costumed staff if you wish!
