Beeswax + Pigment = Encaustic
Description
It sits, molten and ready, in little cans on a hotplate. When it's hot, it's wet and when it's cold, it's dry. Sounds like a riddle but in this 5-day workshop artist Sarah Petite will teach you how to take the guesswork out of painting in the ancient medium of encaustic. With sawed-off paintbrushes on wood, you can paint, drip, re-melt, wet-brush, dry-brush, puddle, stamp, scatch, scrape, and fill to get an array of effects. Come explore the history of this ancient art. Hands-on experimentation will make you an expert in no time.
