Vision

Set in one of the country's most beautiful and creative communities, Fredericton's edVentures summer program is Atlantic Canada's largest and most diverse vacation learning program in craft and culture.

The edVentures summer program features intensive, small-group five-day weekday and shorter weekend workshops. edVentures workshops run six weeks in 2011 from July 4 to August 14, with a special extra week of programming geared towards chamber music lovers.

Programs are designed primarily for those 16 years and older. Children and youth courses are also offered, coordinated to allow parents to participate in edVenture workshops, while their children safely enjoy their own age-appropriate programs.

Our vision is to provide an exceptional learning experience from top-quality, experienced instructors in a refreshing, easy-going atmosphere. We'll weave that first-rate learning opportunity in a rich tapestry of exciting cultural offerings and connections to our friendly people. It's like no other vacation you've ever taken.

The edVentures program is based in gentle downtown Fredericton, where you'll find the renown New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (NBCCD) in the heart of the Historic Garrison District, a national historic site. The college and its award-winning instructors offer more than 60 workshops in the edVentures, a program coordinated by Fredericton Tourism. In addition to the NBCCD, our partners include the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the University of New Brunswick Arts Centre, Kings Landing Historical Settlement, and the Charlotte Street Arts Centre (CSAC) in the St. Anne's Point Heritage Preservation Area. All edVentures workshops take place at the NBCCD, the nearby Beaverbrook Art Gallery and CSAC, or Kings Landing (37km from downtown).

New this summer, edVentures has opened up a number of workshops that enable family members to participate in the same workshop. Twenty of the workshops offered will be Multi-Generational or intergenerational, meaning the workshop is open for children or youth if accompanied by a participating adult.  This is an opportunity to discover together with your child or grandchild, through an interactive learning experience.  Refer to the workshop listing for the minimum age qualifications as they vary. Up to two children or youth are able to take these workshops when accompanied by a parent or grandparent who is taking part.    Why not take advantage of this opportunity to have an interesting experience that will create memories to last a lifetime!

Whether you're touching clay for the first time or mastering digital photography, edVentures instructors engage your mind and energize your creativity.
