Kristyn Cooper
Metalsmith Kristyn Cooper graduated with ‘distinction’ from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 2008. As a student she received numerous awards for her work including “The Beaverbrook Art Gallery Tuition Scholarship” (2007), “The NB Crafts Foundation INC Award in Excellence in Design” (2007), and “Best in Show” at the “Forging Reflections: Mind Over Matter” metal exhibition (2008). As a professional, Cooper has been recognized with such honors as the “Nel Oudemans Award” from the Sheila Hugh MacKay Foundation (2009) and her inclusion in the Canadian Pavilion at the Cheongju International Craft Biennale in South Korea (2009). Her work has appeared in the Metal Arts Guild of Canada Magazine and she is a juried member of the New Brunswick Craft Council.
Cooper currently works for the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design where she is the technician for the metal arts studio, as well as an instructor for continuing education jewellery courses.
