Winter edVentures Workshops
During Fredericton FROSTIVal, January 22-February 14, edVentures Fredericton will be offering one-day, weekend workshops in culinary, knitting, textiles, jewellery and painting! Our renowned, skilled instructors will lead you in a ½ day or full day experience – brightening even the dreariest days of winter!
Ice Carving (Jan 24)
As part of FROSTival’s Ice Sculpture Festival, Ice Sculptor and Chef Richard Chiasson aims to encourage local artists, chefs and new enthusiasts to develop their ice carving skills and techniques. Chef Richard will work with participants to create 10 ice sculptures which will remain on display in Officers’ Square. Tools provided. You’ll start with a safety session inside the Fredericton Region Museum before moving outside - dress warmly! Bilingual instruction available.

Mini Cabled Cowl (Jan 24)
Join instructor Trish Campbell as she shows you how to create those lovely twists and turns of cable knitting on great big, instant gratification sized, yarn. A quick, fun and fashionable project to be sure! Come in for confidence building explorations into the wonders of cables!

Create a Canvas (Jan 30)
Join Luanna Dugas of Altered Eco in creating a work of art while helping the environment! You will be making a 12"x16" canvas by upcycling items you can find around the house. Enjoy a fun filled day with this energetic artisan. Bilingual instruction available.

Silver Ring (Jan 30) - Sold Out
Join silversmith Erica Stanley and learn how to craft a sterling silver ring. You’ll construct a comfort fit, matte finish ring and learn a little bit about soldering too. Try your hand at jewellery making with edVentures!

Paint the Town! (Feb 6) - Sold Out
This 3-hour acrylic painting workshop will show the beauty of Fredericton in a new light. Stretch your imagination by using vibrant colours to represent Fredericton’s downtown on a 12" x 16" sheet of masonite. Kris LeBlanc will guide you with basic colour and painting techniques to create a truly unique piece of artwork.

Rug Hooked Snowman (Feb 6)
In one day, instructor Mary Grant will lead you in the fun of snowman making by rug hooking one of these jolly creatures in the warmth of a classroom setting. Novice or intermediate rug hookers welcome. Students will need to bring a 6"to 10" embroidery or quilt hoop and a pair of small, sharp scissors.

Fabulous Felt Nuno Scarf (Feb 13)
In this class, using silk organza and merino wool, Alexandra Keely will show you how to create your own one-of-a-kind nuno felted scarf, designed, hand felted, and dyed to your liking. Nuno felt is a luxurious, textural, lightweight cloth with drape and flexibility, perfect for creating a stunning scarf!

Simple Reed Stars (Feb 13)
In the simple star workshop, instructor Lisa Fullarton will guide participants through the steps to make an 8 pointed star (also called a Swedish Star, or Carolina snowflake) from either ash or reed, using pre-cut strips of ash or reed.
